How It Works: From Enquiry to Installation

Getting a solar PV and battery system through Scottish Energy Efficiency is straightforward and entirely at your pace. We arrange the survey and quote; installation is carried out by our MCS-certified partner. Here is what happens at each stage, from your first enquiry to a completed installation.

1. You enquire

It starts with you. Fill in the short form on our Get a Quote page, or call us on 0141 230 0198, or message us on WhatsApp. You tell us your postcode, what you are interested in — solar panels, solar with a battery, or battery storage only — and a bit about your home. There is no obligation at this stage or any stage.

2. We arrange a no-obligation survey

We arrange for an installer to visit your home at a time that suits you. The survey is the most important step because it is where your system is tailored to your property. The installer measures your roof, checks the orientation and pitch, looks for any shading from chimneys or trees, inspects your electrical setup, and discusses your electricity usage and what you want from the system.

3. You receive a written quote

After the survey you receive a written, no-obligation quote. It sets out the recommended system — panel array size, battery capacity if requested, inverter, mounting and scaffolding — with the full price. The quote reflects your home specifically, not a generic package. You take it away and decide in your own time. There is no pressure and no obligation to proceed.

4. Installation by our MCS-certified partner

If you decide to go ahead, the installation is carried out by our MCS-certified partner. Scaffolding is erected where needed, the mounting system is fitted, panels are installed, the inverter is connected, and the system is wired into your consumer unit. The work is completed to MCS standards. Once finished, the system is commissioned and you are shown how it works.

5. Aftercare and support

After installation you receive the relevant documentation for your system. If you have questions once the installation is complete, support is available. The panels and battery come with their manufacturer warranties, and the installation workmanship is covered by our partner. We are also on hand if you need to contact us about anything.

No obligation, at any stage

The survey and quote are completely no-obligation. You only proceed if you are happy with the proposal and decide to go ahead. We are here to answer questions at any point — before, during or after.

0% VAT on solar panels and batteries until 31 March 2027. Loans available, subject to status. We install through MCS-certified partners.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the whole process take?

It varies depending on survey availability, your decision timeline, and the installation schedule. After your survey you receive a written quote, and if you decide to proceed the installation is scheduled with our MCS-certified partner. We will keep you informed at each stage.

Do I have to decide at the survey?

No. The survey and quote are completely no-obligation. You take the quote away and decide in your own time. If you have questions afterwards, we are happy to answer them.

Will I need to do anything to my roof first?

The survey checks the condition of your roof. If any attention is needed before panels can be fitted, the installer will let you know. In most cases no work is required, but it is checked so the quote is accurate.

Is the installation MCS-certified?

Yes. We install through MCS-certified partners, so the installation is carried out to recognised industry standards. MCS is the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, the quality mark for small-scale renewable installations in the UK.
